“Invisible Warriors” New Documentary Highlights Contributions Of Black Women During World War II During the war, 600,000 black women worked in war production, military and government service. In order to honor these women, educator and historian, Gregory S. Cooke, whose mother served as a clerk typist during the war, started working on a documentary, Invisible Warriors: African American Women in World War II so these women could share their stories.
